Finnish food tradition is divided into western and eastern cuisine. Each region has its traditional dishes. Karelian pies are often perceived as an integral part of Finnish pie tradition, but other regions have their own pies too. Fish is a pan-regional ingredient to the whole of Finland, with many traditional preparation and cooking methods. Finnish traditional breads vary from simple flatbreads to hardy rye bread. The usage of vegetables, wild and cultivated berries, and mushrooms continue being an integral and enriching part of Finnish food tradition. Learn how to cook traditional Finnish food.
